Motorola closes its USA production of OEM pager parts — March 2006

In September 2005, Motorola advised TH Communications and other authorised Paging Repair Centres of their planned exit from the production and supply of piece part business from January 2006. As you are aware Motorola withdrew production of new paging hardware a number of years ago.

TH Communications has reviewed the possible impact of Motorola's withdrawal to our operations and customers. Our goal was to ensure that this did not impact our product and service offerings and future plans for the business. TH Comms have taken a proactive stance and have purchased a very large supply of parts for key Motorola models. In addition we have also sourced alternative manufacturers for the key model parts, as well as looking to alternative future pager offerings with models such as the Alpha Gold and Elite and numeric NP-88. These models maintain the quality of Motorola; they are similar in design but incorporate new enhancements and have ongoing support available.

We have now taken delivery of thousands of pager parts and have sourced two alternative manufacturers for a number of the Motorola pager parts. We have a strong relationship with our manufacturers and continue to review new offerings to the UK and European paging market.

TH Communications are now ideally positioned to continue to support the Motorola paging hardware that is currently out in the market place. We will continue to provide a selection of hardware from our Business and CPP range, pager plastics and electrical parts in addition to providing a repair service for faulty and cosmetically damaged pagers.
